Simply fill out the form at the right and click the Chat button to begin chatting with a professional librarian. In most cases, you will be chatting with a librarian in Illinois, but not necessarily one at the Morton Grove Public Library; if no Illinois librarians are available, a librarian in another state will help you. You will receive a transcript of your chat session if you enter your e-mail address in the form to the right. Your e-mail address will not be given out or sold to any other company or organization. To help ensure quality service, the Morton Grove Public Library will receive a transcript of your session. You can remain anonymous by entering only your first name in the chat form and not entering an e-mail address. You can also submit your question by e-mail. E-mailed questions are always answered by a Morton Grove Public Library librarian. You'll generally receive a response the same day for questions sent before 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, or the following day for questions sent evenings or weekends.

Co-browse session -- you and the librarian share the same screen (PC only): Internet Explorer 6, Windows 2000 or XP, a virtual machine (Java engine) from either Microsoft (version 1.1.4) or Sun Run Time Environment 1.4 or 1.5

Co-Browsing

In a co-browsing session, you see what the librarian sees; in other words, you can follow along as the librarian researches your question. Co-browsing is available only on PCs, not Macs, and has more specific system requirements than a standard chat sessions (see above). Setup instructions

Pop-Ups

Your chat session will appear in a new browser window. If you have software that blocks pop-up windows, you may need to disable it.

Firewalls

If you have a firewall, you may need to disable it. Don't forget to turn it back on when your session is done!
