Whether you're an expert or just looking for the basics, we offer a range of computer classes designed to fit your schedule and specific needs. Take full advantage of the Library's resources by attending one or more of the Library's computer classes. We offer lecture-style, demo programs on a variety of topics, one-on-one tutorials to help you hone your computer skills, or self-directed instruction using online resources.

Using the Internet for Genealogical Research

One-on-One Computer Instruction at the Library
Temporarily suspended until June.

Morton Grove residents can learn how to use a computer with a one-on-one, hands-on tutorial guided by an MGPL Librarian.

Using a Computer Mouse   

You must be comfortable using a computer mouse before taking any other computer classes. An MGPL Librarian will work with you as you begin to acquire the skills of using a mouse.

Basic Internet   

Learn how to navigate the Internet to search the wealth of material available on the Library's website and other websites with the assistance of an MGPL Librarian. Some computer mouse experience needed.

Setting Up a Free E-Mail Account   

Working with an MGPL Librarian, you will set up a free Yahoo! e-mail account. You will learn how to compose, reply and forward messages and how to organize your e-mail account. Some computer mouse experience needed.

Using iBistro, the Library's computer catalog   

You will learn how to use iBistro, the Library's catalog; easy search strategies to find books, audiobooks and DVDs, how to place items on reserve, viewing book summaries and reviews, and how to manage your account online. Some computer mouse experience needed.

Using EBSCO, the magazine database for research   

Working with an MGPL Librarian, you will learn how to search the Library's subscription database, EBSCO, for magazine articles, how to keep track of your search results, saving searches for future sessions, and how to cite an article using standard citation protocols.

Self-Guided Computer Instruction   

Software tutorials at Morton Grove Public Library   

Software program tutorials are available at the Library to help you learn to use Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
