3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. 1952. The children embark on an adventure abroad Prince Caspian's magic ship which takes them past islands and sea monsters to the land of Narnia.

4. The Silver Chair. 1953. While seeking Rilian, the missing son of King Caspian, Eustace and Jill encounter talking owls, marchwiggles, underwater earthworms, a witch, and a centaur before they are able to free the underworld from the evil spell that has been put on it.

5. The Horse and His Boy. 1970. Shasta the boy and Bree the talking horse plan to escape from Calormen to Narnia. On the way they are joined by a runaway girl and her own talking horse. Their escape becomes a race to reach Narnia ahead of the savage Calormen cavalry and to give warning of the unexpected attack on the king's castle.

6. The Magician's Nephew. 1955. With Digory and Polly we are taken back to the dawn of Narnia time and the day when beasts first talked, which was also the day when people from our world first went into Narnia.

7. The Last Battle. 1956. Jill and Eustace, the children from beyond the world's end, come to the aid of young King Tirian in Narnia's last battle with the evil Calormen. King Tirian is overcome but his prison becomes a paradise.

McCaughrean, Geraldine.

Perseus. 2005. Like Odysseus, this retelling of a Greek myth in the Heroes series makes a thrilling read-aloud. The naive young hero, nicknamed "One-shirt Perseus," doesn't know what he's taking on when he agrees to bring the head of Medusa to the evil king. But Perseus not only beheads the gorgon but also rescues beautiful Andromeda from the parents and lover who betray her.

The Stones are Hatching. 2000. Phelim and his companions, a Maiden, a Fool, and a strange black Horse, journey to the Stoor Worm's lair to destroy the long-forgotten Worm and its Hatchlings, who have been roused from their slumber by the sounds of war.
