Collection Development and Materials Selection Policy
Youth Services Software This collection includes programs for the Youth Services Department's three Macintosh computers. The programs cover such educational areas as reading skills, math, geography, history, problem solving, matching of shapes and sizes, science and computer skills. Influencing Factors Software is selected from software available for the Macintosh computer. The collection is intended for library use only and should meet the recreational and educational needs of children, preschool through grade six. Publishers' catalogs, patron requests, School Library Journal and other lists are used to aid in selection. Nintendo-type games are not purchased. When software is damaged, a replacement is ordered at a reduced rate as per agreement with software companies. If the item is no longer available, the item is removed from the computer. New programs for children are purchased and made accessible on the three Macintoshes periodically in response to new products and popular demand. |
