Hope you all can help with this one:

The patron read the book in 2002. The author is female and the book is
about a teenage boy. The boy dumps his old girlfriend and gets himself a
new one. He and the new girlfriend are abducted or disappear and are
killed. Their murder has an effect on their community.

I'm not sure if this is correct, but could they be talking about the teenage
murder of Adrienne Jones in Mansfield, Texas? David Graham & Diane Zamora
are dating; he then has a fling with Adrienne; Diane is very jealous &
demands that he kill Adrienne, she will even help him. There is a book
written about it, "Blind Love : The True Story of the Texas Cadet Murders"
by Peter Meyer. It had a huge effect on the community b/c both Diane &
David were going to attend military academies after they graduated. Is this
anything close?
