I have a patron who read this book about 16 years ago. It's about a
woman who is left at the altar. The woman stays in her wedding dress
for a long time, doesn't take down the decorations and leaves her cake
in the room for a long time. Eventually everything gets cobwebs. Does
anyone know the title?

Well, it was written considerably earlier than 16 years ago, but the woman described sounds a lot like Miss Havisham from Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
