I'm trying to find a novel that was published no later than 1995. It was the story of an African American woman who was able to "pass" for white in the 1920's. I remember that she dressed flapper-like and went to speak-easies, etc. I read it in a Women's Studies/Multi-cultural class in college. There was a drawing of the main character on the cover and she's wearing a large hat that covers her face. Any help would be appreciated. Please respond to me off-list at [removed]@plsinfo.org
