Hi. A coworker posed this question to me. She was asked by a
friend at church, so I am getting the elements second-hand....
This is what she told me:
1. Short story (she didn't ask if it was juvenile or adult)
2. Little boy's parents were killed by Indians
3. Little boy was raised by badgers
Does anyone have an inspiration? BYE!

Don't know the story, though...

Thanks to PJ Perry and David Wright who suggested Incident at
Hawk's Hill by Eckert. I had asked months (!) ago about this but
could not confirm the answer as the asker was in Russia.
Altho' the original inquiry had some of the clues wrong, that is the
book.
I was told he will now be vindicated at family reunions. He had
brought up the "boy raised by badgers" story but everyone else
thought he was nutso or that he meant wolves. They were calling
him "Badger Boy." But now he can raise his head proudly.
See what rescuers of human fraility this list is??? He will no longer
be scarred as "Badger Boy!" (Maybe there is a movie in this.)
Anyway it's Friday, so have a good weekend everyone. And
thanks again, David and PJ.
