Subject: American during WWII on japanese island
Help!
I've got a patron who's looking for a novel he read about 40 years ago. It
was set during WWII and was about one American survivor on a Japanese
island. He thinks the title was Thousand(s) to One or a variation thereof.
We've tried Google, WorldCat, Amazon, NoveList and What Do I Read Next with
no success. Any ideas?

This a really long shot but there is a book by Quentin Reynolds called
70,000 to 1. Published in 1946, it is about an American bombardier who is
shot down over the Pacific during WWII and makes it to a Japanese-held
island where he survives for 9 months with the help of natives. I had always
thought it was nonfiction--but maybe that's just the way the story is told.
I have a copy of it--have not looked up information about it anywhere.
