time traveled, and cats. I know this is not a lot to go on. But, I would
like to find these, now that my daughter is finally taking an interest
in reading.One of the last in the set had something to do with the 2

Connie Willis has a book with cats and time travel. The title is To Say
Nothing of the Dog. It is charming and amusing and has all the elements
of love, suspense, humor, adventure, and history. The one cat in
question gets brought back from the past. a real time travel no-no and
adds to the havoc. It is a keeper. lmc

Diane Duane's books, Book of Night with Moon and To Visit the Queen, feature
time-traveling wizard cats, but their relationship with humans seems
peripheral.

Nope, none of these come close. I know I'm not giving you a lot to go
on. The only other thing that kind of sounds familar is something to do
with long life, maybe a side effect of the time travel? The cats are
kind of secondary to the story. Gosh, I realy wish I could remember
more.

Well, if you are willing to reduce the cats to a definite subtheme and not
a central plotline, Robert Heinlein's later works would definitely
qualify: an extended family (loosely defined as "anyone we like") that
takes time-traveling jaunts to correct history and preserve their moral
code, live very long lives, and worship their cats seems to hit on most
cylinders. The 2 main characters retiring, though, is definitely a miss,
since these folks don't retire.

Some titles associated with this storyline:

Time Enough For Love
The Number of the Beast
To Sail Beyond the Sunset
The Cat Who Walks Through Walls

Characters and elements from Heinlein's other works, such as Methuselah's
Children, The Rolling Stones, Stranger in a Strange Land, and The Moon is
a Harsh Mistress all crop up, along with L. Frank Baum, Edgar Rice
Burroughs, E.E. Smith and others it would take a Dennis Lien or Mycroft
Holmes to identify. If your daughter is mature enough to handle some
straightforward discussion of sexual relationships and a strong dose of
freethinking, I'd say give these a try.

This is a VERY long shot as it has been years and I don't really remember
the plot so it might not be time travel, but there is a children's book
called Space Cat by Ruthven Todd.

Yes, thats it! Thank you so much. I went to half.com and looked up books
by Heinlein and when I saw Lazuras Long, I knew they were the books I
was looking for. As for my daughter, she's 16, but the only thing she
likes to read is the princess diaries. I was hoping to expand her veiw a
little.
