Put your thinking caps on...I have an interesting question posed by a high
school student. She is doing a project and needs short stories on the
subject of the women's movement during the 1950's - 1970's.
One of the volumes of the Dictionary of Literary Biography lists short
story writers since World War II. I found Joyce Carol Oates as an entry.
She has been around for a long time so I thought she might be a good
prospect for the student. She has written poetry, novels and short stories.
Any other ideas? I really need specific short story titles if you can
provide them for me.
Thank you very much,
Maureen

Carson McCullers wrote stories illustrating the isolation of the human
condition as part of modern society.
Your patron might also want to check out Carolyn's Heilbrun's two books:
The representation of women in fiction
Reinventing womanhood.
They could serve as sources as well; both contain extensive bibliographies.

The opinions are my own; the library wouldn't want 'em!
