Hi all,

I am looking for a book title or author for a book I read when I was young.
I don't remember much about it except it was about a young girl who moved
(to the city I think) and her new house had a stoop that she sat on all the
time. She became friends with a neighbor girl and they spent time in the
park. They were both probably between 10-12 years old, outcasts and got
chased by a gang of boys in the park. I read it in the late 1970's and I
think it was contemporary with the times. I've been racking my brain to
figure out what it was so any help or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
