Looking for a book - a real difficult task, this one!
Return to January 2004 thread menu | Fiction_L Archives Menu |
FROM: dzlyons <[removed]@tcd.ie>
REC'D: 1/31/04, 1:24 PM
The novel would have appeared prior to 1985 as it was then that I remember
reading it in the library, so it could have been in print for some years
prior to this.
All that I can add to the plot is that the woman who is carrying the clone
is incarcarated on a Scottish island for some of the period of her
pregnancy before giving birth to a daughter! The novel concludes with the
Israelis having tracked the mother and daughter down with the intention of
assassinating the daughter.
Have you ever come across such a novel in the course of your work? And if
so, would you be so kind as to forward me the details. This search has
been going on for many years now and it's very frustrating. If you don't
recognise the novel, perhaps you could suggest another avenue for my search
to continue in.
Thank you for your time, please excuse the intrusion

Sounds like the movie with Gregory Peck, The Boys
from Brazil, most likely translated from a book.

The novel, THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL is by Ira Levin.

That's what I thought too. Said book was by Ira Levin ("Rosemary's Baby,"
"The Stepford Wives").

I think this book might be "The Boys from Brazil" by Levin. There were little Hitlers running around in it. Hope this is the one.
