I am thinking about entering into a leasing plan for our small library's
large print collection.
Do any of you lease Large Print books for your library?
Feel free to respond off list to me with any tips, hints, contacts and
experiences. Thanks!!!

We use McNaughton Books plan (regular print)for our
Bookmobile and branch library and it works well for
us. If you are small operation with limited storage
space, they are a good way to go. Also useful if a
book will have a limited circulation time and would
sit on a shelf once it was used a few times .
I'm not promoting McNaughton over anyone else as I'm
not familiar with what else is out there, but we have
found them to be very accommodating and the books
arrive fairly quickly. We can so keep a certain
amount of books per year free-of-charge. You will
want to make sure the plan offers a good variety of
genres, nonfiction, etc, from a variety of publishers.
McNaughton seems to only offer titles from the big
publishers and Center Point. Both are fine but
Thorndike (Gale) also has titles by in-demand authors.
We purchase all of our large print and I am running
out of room on the shelves am at my wit's end trying
to figure out what to do with them. I hate to
withdraw perfectly good books that are still
circulating (we have a high demand for LP) but sorry
to say a leased program probably isn't for us since
the books remain perennially popular.
Hope this helps.
