Well, here I go again... I'd recommend Ivan Doig's "English Creek" and the
prequel to it, "Dancing at the Rascal Fair."

Rhys Bowen's series about Constable Evans Evans are also good reads and
gentle in their scope. They have titles with Evans in the title, e.g Evans
Above.

I don't know if I should suggest any romance novels. If the gentleman likes
mysteries, there are masses of wonderful cozies that are nil on sex, low on
violence, but very clever...
