One of my favorite review websites includes sensuality ratings based on
the MPAA system. It's The Romance Reader at
http://www.theromancereader.com. Also, you can tell your volunteers
that anything published by Avalon Books have very little explicit
sensuality and no sex. My writing friends who have submitted to them
have told me that one of Avalon's guidelines is no touching below the
shoulders.

We are looking for a web site that might help our volunteers who work with
homebound patrons sort out romances. Many of those customers want clean
romances without explicit sex scenes. Usually staff who work with these
books can judge based on experience and feedback but the volunteers don't
have the same background. Thanks for your help. Mary Knapp. Madison

I don't know of a web site per se, but I do know that the early regency
novels of Joan Wolf had sexual tension, but no sex scenes. Ditto all of the
regency novels of Rita Boucher.
Also, didn't Fiction_L explore this issue in a thread or two in the past
couple of years? Not a data base, but the kind of romance novels that don't have
explicit sex scenes.

Also try likesbooks.com
They have reviews and books by subject. It's a great
site.

*Nearly* all Regency Novels published by Signet, Zebra, Harlequin, will have
a minimum of explicit sex. Also, the traditional Harlequin romances are
still written according to strict guidelines. There are several imprints of
"Inspirational" romances that would fit those standards, and nearly all
Christian romance novels, as well. Imprints Bethany House, Multnomah,
Zondervan, and I know there are others as long as the patrons don't mind the
religious references.
In non-category Romances, they vary by author, and that is where the website
ratings would come in handy.
