No clue if this is the book, but you never know:
Disturbance of the Inner Ear, by Joyce Hackett, published last fall by Carroll
& Graf. Topic is right, and it was reviewed in the NYT. Reviews at
www.joycehackett.com. It has a cellist on part of the cover.

I couldn't recall any bestsellers in the past few months that would be
categorized as Jewish fiction, but here are a few newer books that have been
popular in my library -
Three Daughters by Letty Pogrebin
Jane Austen in Boca by Paula Marantz Cohen
Great Neck by Jay Cantor
couple of nonfiction (just in case) -
The New Rabbi by Stephen Fried
Abraham by Bruce Feiler
