Hi All,
This question comes from one of our branches so my facts are sketchy but
I'd sure love your help with it:
Possibly Scottish engineer is on a ship called the H.M.S. Inchcliff
Castle. There is also a place (at least in the story) called Inchcliff
Castle. The patron thinks the book is fiction. Any clues whatsoever?

Guy Gilpatric wrote stories about Mr. Glencannon, Scottish chief engineer of the S.S. Inchcliffe Castle. They were published in the Saturday Evening Post, then collected in book form. There was at least one novel, Mr. Glencannon ignores the war (1944).
