Good afternoon,

Looking for help concerning the Battletech series. Recently, a patron
request was submitted to the library to purchase this series. I am not
very familiar with the series. I am asking if anyone knows the following:

How many are in the series?
Who does it primarily appeal to - adult, teen, etc.?

I believe it is a continuous series such as Star Wars and Star Trek. If we
decide to purchase the series, where do you even begin?

Help! If anyone has a list of the series, please send it to me personally
as an attachment.

Those published prior to 1999 listed at

You can check the annual updates on the main LOCUS site (linked at
http://www.locusmag.com/index/0start.html#TOC ) for later ones.

I've always assumed these were schlock from fourth-rate sf authors,
but checking the series list I see a few third-rate authors have
contributed. I've never read them.

Hi, The librarian who orders paperback fiction at our library orders
them from Paperback Advance from Ingram purchasing lists. He says there
are about 1 or 2 a month on the list. He says that the audience seems to
be mostly teenage young men, We have about twenty most with a
publication date of 2000 to 2003. Each paperback have circulated about
10 times, a few older ones that are from 1997 and 1998 have gone out 20
times. Our lowest number is the series is 13 and our highest is 56.
There appears to be another series that is a subset of Battletech called
Mech Warrior. Our catalog website is at http://www.duluth.lib.mn.us/
