I have a patron who is looking for a book and hope the great brain can help!

The book is about an older or elderly woman whose husband has died. Her kids start digging up her past and find out she had a gentlemen in her past who she wrote letters back and forth to when she was young. The lady is a gardener and becomes good friends with a younger man (also a gardener), -- the patron feels it never ends in romance between the two. The lady also does a lot of cooking in the book and is known for the herbs she grows. The book was read by the patron over 15 years ago.
