watcher in the woods
|
FROM: Sherri Lazenby <[removed]@dallaslibrary.org>
REC'D: 3/7/03, 1:30 PM
>The book I was talking about is juvenile, or possibly young adult.
A girl was in the woods, and runs into an older couple that lives there, and
they own one or two basenjis (dogs that can climb trees).
There is something going on, like someone watching them in the woods, or
they are looking for someone hiding in the woods. And possibly she is hiding
from her family or is lost.
I read it in the 70's, so it was written then or in the 60's.
I thought the title was something like Watcher in the Woods or A Stranger is
Watching, but that's not exactly right.
Thanks,
Sherri L. Lazenby

Thanks for all who responded with suggestions for the light verse
about a
bee. It turned out to be E.B. White's Song of the Queen Bee, which
is
actually quite funny. Our lucky winner was Barry Trott, my esteemed
supervisor.

This might be "The Watcher in the Woods" by Florence Engel
Randall. It was one of my favorite books when I was 10 or so, but
I'd forgotten about it until today's post. The NoveList
description is "When their family moves into a house at the edge
of a forest, two sisters sense an invisible presence as strange
occurences take place." It was published in 1976.

anyone?

Subject: two sisters, strange occurences
There is a book called Watcher in the woods in our catalog, c. 1976,
by
Florence Engle Randall. The description says:
When their family moves into a house at the edge of a forest, two
sisters
sense an invisible presence as strange occurrences take place.
I've never read it, but it sounds right.
Good luck,
Karen.

Thanks, but this was the title mention before and the patron said this is
not it. The girl is not with her family and does not have a sister.
