fantasy novel-have plot, need title...

I'm hoping someone can help me with this:
A patron read a book once upon a time and wants to
read it again but doesn't remember the title. This is
the plot information the patron gave me:
It opens on a nameless hero riding a talking horse who
can't remember his name or where he came from. They
have a variety of adventures in a fantasy land
including a fight with a dragon made of metal but
ultimately must save the world from the great force of
Despair. At the end the hero remembers that he once
lived on Earth and died by being hit from an
acorn on a tree at a great height. There's a female
character named Yasmine or Ysabell...
Does this ring a bell for anyone?
I've tried searching on Novelist but didn't find
anything.
