What kind of book talks or programs is your library planning for this
summer? Are you doing a series of book talks on a theme? Is the staff
going to present the talks or are you having author visits? Are you having
regular book club meetings as your programming? Any and all responses are
greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

We are doing light reading for our regular book discussion:
1. Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner
2. A walk in the woods by Bill Bryson
3. Passion of Artemesia by Susan Vreeland
For our mystery book discussion, I went the other way:
1. She walks these hills by Sharyn McCrumb
2. The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl
3. The No. 1 Ladie's Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
I only did one summer program, but I got the idea from reflection
on my own childhood combined with a book I just read; "The book
that changed my life." Why should kids have all the fun? We are
having a good old fashioned ice-cream social with sundaes and
participants talking about their favorite book. I left it open to
a favorite book as a child or even something that had a deep
impact on their lives.
Thanks!

Since the children's program this year is a movie theme, and we piggyback on
to it, we'll probably be doing a couple of movie discussions. Having really
planned anything yet. Just ideas floating around.
