Anyone have any ideas of a display of books for April Fool's Day? Theme
and title would be great!

I did a display for April Fool's Day last year. It was titled simply "April
Fools" and I used a court jester-style cap for the artwork. Because I work in
my library's non-fiction department, humor was my theme and I displayed any
biographies of comedians or books written by comedians as well as books about
stand-up comedy, sit-com television shows, telling jokes, etc. It was very
successful.

I think a display of books (fiction and nonfiction) with unexpected or
twisted endings would be great. I just read Charles Dickenson's A
SHORTCUT IN TIME and it had good twist at the end. Other titles might
be Jeffrey Archer's NOT A PENNY MORE, NOT A PENNY LESS and Irwin Shaw's
NIGHTWORK. Now can I think of any more? Of course not, but I'm sure
there are many more titles that would work for this kind of theme. And
sorry to say I am not coming up with any great titles for the display
but I might in the next few hours. :-)

O. Henry! His short stories are noted for them.

Off the subject a little, but speaking of clever, a co-worker was
having a birthday and another brought in a bunch of homemade bread,
butter, and other condiments, plus a toaster and said "Let's give a
toast to Phyllis' birthday!" or some such thing. :-) But then Phyllis
was the one who on April Fool's Day one year took a dark brown sponge,
spread dark icing on it, cut it in squares and fooled eveyrone into
thinking it was a brownie! We all fell for it, too!
So with that in mind, Happy April Fool's Day a little early!

Of course, the descriptions remind me a lot of the Poe story "Hop-Frog",
where a chronically debased and insulted Fool takes grisly revenge on the
courtiers who mistreat him. It's still my favorite of Poe's short fiction.
