Hello,
Have a patron requesting this novel she read in the
1970's--Wilbur Smith comes to mind as a possible
author, but he is so prolific I thought I would see if
I could winnow it down a bit....here are the clues she
gave:
Young white woman is rescued from death
(drowning?) and restored to health by people of the
Kalahari. (?as to location) She comes to understand
their speech--click talk?
In gratitude she gives one particular man a valuable
necklace. On returning home, she becomes a very
wealthy and influential woman, courted by someone who
gives her a valuable necklace.....which, of course, she
recognizes, and discovers that her suitor has killed
her benefactor and stolen the necklace. The rest of the
book-perhaps a series-is given over to her seeking of
revenge against this man.
TIA
