Does anyone know the title of a book about an older sea captain
who is given a lab puppy. The two become great friends. I think the
story takes place on the east coast. Thanks!

This may be way off, but there is a book by Brian Jacques, Castaways of
the Flying Dutchman, that involves an abandoned lab puppy, the captain
of the flying Dutchman, and a stowaway young boy. It is in the fantasy
realm, as the boy and the dog are eventually able to communicate
telepathically and they both become immortal. At the beginning of the
story though, the puppy is favored by the captain of the ship. Sara Milovanovic
