Are there any other fiction paperback series like "18 Pine Street" aimed at teen African Americans?
In your experiences: which teen fiction paperback series (in general) are popular now?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Did you check to see if anyone had them used? Amazon serves as a middleman
for hundreds of people trying to sell off stuff they don't want (I know, I'm
one of them). And if no one does, you can pre-pay and be notified when a
copy goes up.

Or check ABEBooks or Bookfinder or TomFolio or comparable services and
contact whatever booksellers you find offering them directly and avoid
paying a cut to Amazon or any other middleman...

Actually, you don't "pay a cut" to Amazon. The seller does, choosing for
himself what to charge (though sometimes Amazon has a maximum figure, if the
item is something they sell new).

There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. If Amazon gets a cut from
the seller, s/he presumably will raise hir prices to allow for this.
Buying via middlemen offers a convenience, and this is clearly often
worth it for institutions; it may be felt to be worth it for some
individuals, but that's a judgement call.
Of course, if the Amazons and Barnes and Nobles and the like continue
to play eight hundred pound gorillas, there may not BE other options
in the near future. But while there are, I intend to patronize
independent stores and booksellers directly whenever possible. (And,
where it's not possible, ask myself if I *really* want the book *that*
much...)
