I got a request for help from our outreach group. It seems someone read a
book (she called it a mystery) in which one of the characters (possibly not
the main character) was hit in the head by a falling flowerpot. Although
this person was killed, no one was liable for murder since the falling pot
was accidental. Does anyone remember the title of this book?

I believe the initial victim in the supernatural mystery _Aunt Dimity:
Detective_ (Nancy Atherton, 2001) is killed with a flowerpot. It's not seen as
an accident, though.

Interestingly, the movies The Lady Vanishes (Hitchcock, 1938) and Hush, Hush
Sweet Charlotte (1960s, with Olivia De Havilland) both use flowerpots as
weapons.
