If you're including plays, Harold Pinter's THE BIRTHDAY PARTY. (I
don't recall if Vonnegut's HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WANDA JUNE involves a real
birthday, though I don't think so.) And add THE BOYS IN THE BAND by
Matt Crowley.
Agatha Christie's REMEMBERED DEATH (SPARKLING CYANIDE in the UK)
involves a suicide (or was it a murder?) at a birthday party.
William Nolan's LOGAN'S RUN (a book before it became a movie and tv
series) involves a society where everyone is supposed to be put to
death on their 30th (?) birthday.
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING of course begins with Bilbo Baggins'
birthday party...

_Stress Family Robinson II (The Birthday Party)_ by Adrian Plass
Written from Kathy Robinson's point of view, this book covers the week up to
and including her 50th birthday party. The same enjoyable larger-than-life
characters who were introduced in the first Robinson book, with their down-to-
earth approach to the Christian life. A few moments of humour and some of
sadness. Rather unusual sub-plot as the Robinsons' friend Dip reveals a 40-
year-old secret out of the blue, and begins to find healing.
_Fortysomething_ by Nigel Williams, 1999
Paul Slippery is 49 years and 5 months old, and lives with his long-suffering

head injuries, she abandons her family for a women's community, and her two
children must cope
_Two Against One_ by Frederick Barthelme, 1988

_Wanted: One Groom_ by Pat Ballard, 2000
A romance novel with a plus-size heroine. If Hanna Rockwell isn't married by
the time she reaches her 30th birthday, she will lose her entire inheritance,
which not only affects her, but also affects her mother and brother, who live
at Rockwell Place with her. Tired of the pressure her mother, Mary, and
brother, Will, are putting on her to get married to save their home, she
challenges them. "Mother, you plan the wedding. Will, you find the groom. And
I'll get married on my 30th birthday!"
_Darjeeling_ by Bharti Kirchner
Two Westernized sisters who grew up on a tea plantation in Darjeeling waste a

Harry Potter's birthdays are always significant days though they also
noted for the lack of celebration on the part of relatives.
