Has anyone else noticed the appearance of what can best be described as
"vampire cosies"?
So far, Charlaine Harris has 2 in a new series: Dead Until Dark & Living
Dead In Dallas (subtitled as "Southern Vampire Mysteries")
and the new one by Dean James is Posted To Death, in which said male vamp
is also gay. It is very funny.

Yes. In addition, Christine Feehan has a multi-volume series that has a
slight twist on the Vampire theme. In her Dark series, the main male
character in each book is a Carpathian (basically a vampire who does not
kill his prey). The titles are:

Dark Magic
Dark Challenge
Dark Fire
Dark Legend (forthcoming)

I've seen Feehan's stuff, but the books don't really look like what I was
referring to. I'll check them out, but they seem to be more in the romance
line. The titles I referred to really are "cosies" ie light domestic
mysteries...they just happen to include vampires as characters. This leads
to some interesting moments, such as Charlaine Harris's hometown boy vampire
winning over the ladies by giving a personal account of the Civil War to the
local Daughters of the Confederacy, or someone trying to do in Dean James's
character by spiking an appetizer with garlic....

There is a new book coming out called Posted to Death by Dean James. An
Amazon review:

The newest member of the quirky English village of Snupperton Mumsley is
Simon Kirby-Jones, an American author of bodice rippers and mysteries (under
pseudonyms). Simon is also gay and a vampire but thanks to advances in
modern medicine, he is able to hide his condition from the rest of humanity.
By taking two pills daily, he can walk in sunlight, eat and drink food, and
has no need for human blood.

Simon takes immediately to village life and is delighted to discover another
vampire, Jane Hardwick, living in the village. The two bond immediately and
when the local postmistress is murdered, the pair embarks on their own
investigation to uncover the culprit. They find that everyone had a reason
to hate the gossipy women who threatened to expose their secrets via a play
that she wrote for a local dramatic society production. As Simon closes in
on the killer, he finds his own "undead" life in jeopardy.

Sounds cozy to me! I've reserved a copy of this for myself, but it hasn't
started circulating, so I can't give a personal review.
