Looking for help with a patron request:

Patron is looking for a short story that he read some
time ago. He does not know author or title. In the
story, there are two men in a spaceship and an alien
comes aboard to try to take it over. The alien can
learn things very fast (about the spaceship, etc.),
much faster than humans. The humans end up defeating
the alien because they know history (human, earth),
and the alien does not. Patron wishes to use story in
his classroom to teach value of learning history.
