This is a really vague question- but I just finished Girl With a Pearl
Earring and all the while I was reading it , it seemed very familiar, like I
had read something like it before- the character's situation. Does anyone
know of other books written about artists that are fictionalized . Thanks

Not sure if you are referring to the character actually being in Vermeer's household or just a similar situation with a different artist. There is an older title by Rosalind Laker, THE GOLDEN TULIP, that is set in 17th century Amsterdam and a woman artist completes an apprenticeship with Vermeer.

Another possibility is Confessions of an Ugly
Stepsister by Gregory McGuire. It's a retelling of
the Cinderella story set in 17th century Holland.

The Passions of Artemisia, about the artist Artemisia Gentilleschi. It
begins when she is 18 and has been raped by a friend of her father, and
must defend her story under torture. Kind of an annoying audiobook (the
reader really rolled those R's), but probably much better in print.

Thanks for the responses to my question. I think it was the Golden
Tulip-have to go and read that again now. Thanks for the other ideas-
haven't read them so now I have more titles to add to my reading list. This
