This one isn't by a journalist, but rather a poet. However, it IS red!
It's called Paradiso and is by Jose Lezama Lima.Maureen

Here's a possibility, though I'd call the cover fuchsia rather than red:
Dirty Havana Trilogy by Pedro Juan Gutierrez. It was published in an
American ed. in 2001. It's a novel in stories about a former journalist
living hand to mouth in the period following the Soviet Union's
collapse. The book was banned in Cuba.Kathleen Loucks

Hey all-
I have a very vague description of a book. If it sparks anything in
anyone's brain I'd love some guesses.
My patron was in a bookstore recently and saw a RED book. It is in
English. It was by a Cuban nationalist, an ex journalist. The book is
a novel, based loosely on this journalist's life. It hinges around his
loss of his job as a journalist and how he looked for new work. It also
covers life in Cuba after Castro took over.
No idea of titles, or even any words in the title. Author a mystery,
though patron reports it was a male author with a definitely Spanish
name.
Thanks in advance!
