Short books

FROM: "Franz, Patty" <[removed]@pamunkeylibrary.org>
REC'D: 4/23/02, 8:43 AM
For the last two years we have sponsored an adult summer reading
program. Some of our patrons have complained that they are too busy to read
5 books during the summer. I have decided to put together a list of short
books for our reluctant adult readers.
In June 1999, Cindy Lunghofer was nice enough to compile One Day
Reads for the Beach and I am using that as a start. I am now looking for
suggestions of new short books that you have enjoyed. I will be happy to
compile the list for everyone's use. Thanks, Patty

There is a terrific anthology that I have found very helpful when
pulling together short fiction displays. It is called 100 One-night
reads: a book lover''s guide by David C. and John S. Major. Ballantine,
c2001 isbn 0345439945. Really nice one or two page annotations, and the
selections range from light to literary fiction with a male-reader
emphasis, plus a smattering of non-fiction.

Hi all. I too am preparing for my library's summer reading program. I would
be interested in getting my hands on Cindy Lunghofer's "One Day Reads For
The Beach." Does anyone have it and can either send it to me or direct me in
the right direction. By the way, I JUST graduated from Wayne State's Library
Information Science Program, (LISP) here in Detroit and have so much to
learn. I feel like I'm learning way more from your postings here than I ever
did in class.
