I was asked by one of our senior staff members if there is such a thing
as a Fiction L type of listserv for movies? I have a doozy of a question
(via e-mail)which describes a scene in a movie. The patron now wants to
know the title. Is there such a movie listserv?

I don't know if there is a listserv. However, you can try the Internet
Movie Database for help.

Patricia,
I don't know of a movie list either, but I would bet that a lot of
fiction-l'ers are movie buffs, too, and would not be opposed to havng a
whack at your question...

I belong to a video listserve at videolib@library.berkeley.edu. It seems to be composed mainly of university libraries with a few of us public libraries. We have not had a question like you describe ¯ the questions are usually about locating specific types of videos for purchase. However, please join and ask us. It would be nice to have another public library in the listserve.

I would also recommend asking someone at a local video store. I worked at one
for several years and I am still amazed at the amount of info about movies
that video clerks have stored... even ones they haven't seen.
