Hi,
I have a patron who has read Sandra Dallas' Persian Pickle Club
and Buster Midnight's Cafe. The patron wants more books set in
the Depression era. I'm sure you folks can come up with lots.

Faith Sullivan's The Cape Ann is set during the Depression and deals
with coping in a small town. Its sequel, The Empress of One follows
the lives of some of the same characters after the Depression.

Some books set in the depression:
Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse (a Newbery Medal winner which would
appeal to adults too; set in Oklahoma during the dust bowl years)
Mineral Palace by Heidi Julavits
Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter
Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.

Some older books set in the depression years in Southern Indiana were writtten for young adults by Crystal Thrasher. They are really evocative of the era and adults do like them

There are two mystery series set during the Depression - Harold Adams'
Carl Wilcox series and Jill Churchill's Grace and Favor series.
