A patron is looking for a fiction title and this is what he remembers;
-written anytime after 1980
-main characters are escaped prisoners
-they escape to the mountains (he thinks in the USA)
-these prisoners come across some hikers/campers and take them as hostages
-authorities are searching for them as they try to escape through a valley?

This sounded familiar to me but I couldn't put my finger on a title. Anyone
else have any ideas?
