overpopulation novel

I have a patron looking for a novel that he read. He thought it was by Steinbeck, but he wasn't sure. It is about a world crammed full of people. He thought the title was something like: My Stuggle for Space, or My Quest for Space, or My Fight for Space. He is pretty sure the title starts with *My*.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Lisa

Could be John Hersey's "My Petition for More Space."
