I'm currently working on an anthology of women's breakup/"Dear John" letters
for publisher Carroll & Graf. By this I mean letters in which a woman is
actually breaking off a romance or commenting on, venting about, mourning,
or explaining an already-ended romance.
I'm writing to solicit suggestions from you as to books/short stories that
have such letters in them, as I will be using fictional letters in addition
to real ones in the book.

No stories come to mind, but if you might be open to poetry, take a
