Patron looking for a novel (at least he thinks it is fiction) about Hoover Dam that he thinks is titled RED RIVER. We have searched Amazon, Google, and just about anything else we can think of and can't come up with that particular title. It isn't BOULDER DAM by Grey or PIGS IN HEAVEN. It's a very long shot but I am wondering if he might be thinking of RED WATER by Freeman about the Mountain Meadows Massacre. Any other suggestions before I call him back?

No "red" or "river" in the title, but Ivan Doig wrote a novel about the

AND THE DESERT SHALL BLOSSOM by Phyllis Barber (1991) shows up on
WorldCat as an historical Mormon novel about Hoover Dam.

I also find a 1985 juvenile, SWEPT IN THE WAVE OF TERROR by
Gloria Skurzynski, in which two teens foil a terrorist plot to
damage Hoover Dam.

Could your patron have the book confused with the movie, Wild River, about the TVA and the dams on the Tennessee? The book to that was Dunbar's Cove by Borden Deal.

Could your patron possibly be thinking of Edward Abbey's Monkey Wrench Gang
(c1975)? Don't they try to blow up or foil the building of a dam?

Hoover dam is in Boulder City, Nevada. I believe the original name was
Boulder dam. Boulder city was a planned community for the dam workers and
their families.
It is a beautiful little town and a 'dry' town.
