In response to Meg Justis's query, if you like strong heroes and heroines,
you might like to try Catherine Asaro's books. There's the 7-volume (and
counting) Skolian Empire Saga, which includes The Quantum Rose.

David Weber's Honor Harrington series for those who like Cordelia's
character, but most of Bujold's books are about Miles, her son, and I've
never found anybody like Miles.

Miles rules! Nobody else is ever a "good" read-a-like for ones favorite
author and Bujold is my favorite (ok, along with about 3 or 4 others). Her
Vorkosigan universe is unique and wonderful but it takes way too long for
the next installment (which is DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY due out in May) to come
along. Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's series set in the Liaden Universe has
some of the same appeal factors, heroism, politics, romance, strong female
characters, sexy resourceful male characters. I DARE is the latest book in
the series but earlier titles are being re-released, too.
