For April, our Book Club has decided to read any biography about Abigail
Adams. The facilitator is looking for some discussion questions. Does anyone
have some general questions that would be good for discussing a biography?

These were used in a biography discussion at our library. One of our
discussion leaders came up with them so I claim no credit.

1. Choose 5 scenes from (Abigail's) story that were important pivotal
events in her life and describe them.

2. Detail the circumstances, characters, and backgrounds of each scene.

3. How are the scenes representative of her life?

4. How did each scene change or affect her?

5. What are the major divisions in (Abigail's) biography?

These questions work well for historical figures because they tend to bring
out characteristics of the person in the context of history, rather than
that history drove the story.
