Subject: A twist at the end
I'm hoping you all can help me with a book list. I have a patron who is
looking for novel-length fiction of any genre with unexpected twists at the
end. He mentioned The Lottery by Shirley Jackson as an example, though that
looks to be a short story. We looked at the O'Henry awards, but those are
only
short stories. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

One that comes to mind for me is "Curtain" by Agatha Christie.

The best book I read inthe year 2000 had an AMAZING twist in the end. In
fact, I had to sit down right away and reread it. The book was "Basic
Eight" by Daniel Handler (who is Lemony Snicket, for anyone who cares). =20
I've never sone that before, finished something and then immediately
reread it again. I've also never come across such a totally unexpected
but absolutely acceptable and fitting twist at the end of a book.
