A patron came in requesting the "book" that was mentioned on a recent 60
Minutes episode about the lost children. I went to CBS' site and found
out that they did a show about some 10,000 British children living in
orphanages who were shipped to Australia in 1947. The 60 Minutes site
does not mention any book about the subject. Does anyone have any idea
whether there was a book published and what is the title?
Thanks for help; sorry to go off topic.

There are three books mentioned in reference to these "lost
children" here:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/0103/22/features/features1.html
Orphans of the Empire: The Shocking Story of Child Migration in
Australia, by Alan Gill, 1998 - available through Biblion for $25
and
The Scheme: The Christian Brothers and Childcare in WA, by Brother
Dr Barry Coldrey (1993), a church historian who came to prominence
in the early 1990s when his Christian Brothers order asked him to
investigate and write this book about the West Australian Catholic
orphanages, which some say is a whitewash job. From $11-53 used.
and
"The British writer Lesley Pearse, whose romantic novels sell by the
bucketload, has set her next work, Trust Me, on the experiences of
two fictional child migrants, sent to Western Australia in the '50s."
Probably it's the first one that your patron wants.
