When you attend library association meetings, what do you enjoy getting as
handouts (besides free books, of course? <g>). This is in addition to the
traditional handouts of catalogs, bookmarks, postcards. I assume it's
something portable, but ... what?
I have a reason for asking and will post it later. Also, private email is

A good sized very sturdy canvas/fabric bag to carry all the stuff and
handouts and whatever, preferably with handles long enough to sling over
my shoulder when it gets heavy, but overall not so long as to drag on
the floor when carried in the hand by a short person (I'm still hoping
to reach 5'4" some day, but at my age it looks pretty hopeless...)

Sarah, I have one of those that I bought from Avon a few years ago. It has
good handles, wheels on it, and a "lock" so it will stand up. I LOVE
IT!!!!! It is also very pretty, with roses all over it, and it holds A
LOT!!!!. I'm not sure if Avon still sells it, but you can check with your
local rep. Julie A. Roberts [removed]@rolling-meadows.lib.il.us

My bag isn't rose colored - it's black, with fold-down wheels, velcro and
carry handles (for when it's not in use.)
And I love mine, too!

I found I now have a collection of mugs that I use to hold pens, paper clips,
etc. plus a mug rack. Cute magnets are nice, they are all over my side of my
metal desk and file cabinet and at home.
Note pads are very useful, catchy bookmarks are nice too.

At ALA last year the IRS had endless supplies of goodies. There are two most prized freebies of memory. The Chicka Chicka Boom Boom t-shirt - which my husband was offered money for by another parent at story time; and the Hogwarts School t-shirt and advance readers copy of Harry Potter number three at New Orleans ALA.
Also on the subject of quilt shows there is a big one going on in Phoenix during PLA. If you have any interest in joining the ALA ad hoc Quilter's round table mailing list, or joining us in our Saturday afternoon expedition to the show, please email me directly.
