I'm planning my next fiction display, and shamelessly am coming
for your collective wisdom again. (I really feel I get much more out
of this list that I contribute.)

I have a 2-sided bin and want to do one side featuring books that
have a theme of one (or more) of the 7 deadly sins, the other side
one (or more) of the 7 virtues.

In case, you can't rattle these off the top of your head, here they
are:

7 deadly sins: anger/wrath, greed/covetousness, lust, envy,
gluttony, pride and sloth.

7 virtues: hope, faith, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance and
prudence.

If you make suggestions of fiction titles, please let me know if it
goes on the "sin side" or "virtue side." I suppose there are some
books that could go on either side, too.

Hi, For the "virtues" side of the bin, you might consider any of Jan Karon's
books about Mitford, as well as any of Susan Howatch's books. Both authors'
books feature priests or ministers as central characters, the testing of

William Pene du Bois did a series for children based on the seven deadly sins
(I love the thought of an author trying to get the go-ahead on such a thing today!). The most noteworthy, in my opinion was the hilarious CALL ME BANDICOOT (avarice). Others were PORKO VON POPBUTTON (gluttony)

I think that the new Philippa Gregory title, The Other Boleyn girl would work here. The sins being seen in the behaviour of the Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn and the virtues in the daily life of the Queen, Katherine of Aragon.
