Hello all. Forgive the cross-posting. I have sent this to 3 lists. My
supervisor has asked me to inquire if other Libraries are thinking of
getting rid of this huge collection of the Thomas Register. Ours has seen
very little use over the years, and we are thinking of deleting it from our

Thanks to all of you for your many informative replies! Through you, I
found out that the ThomasRegister.com website is free. Registration is
needed for this site. Responses may be in more than one area. Currently,
we have the 2000 print version.
Pros for print version
1. Cheap price for print volumes-5
2. Patrons still use it occasionally-5
3. Patrons prefer or don't know how to use computers--4
4. Quick & easy to use-1
5. Print has more to offer/easier to use info/more info-4
6. Special Library-Librarians need print version-1
Cons
7. Information is available online/Library uses online version-14
8. Can ILL from neighboring Library-3
9. Frees up space-10
10. Library has cd-rom version-3
11. Lack of use-9
12. B & T not doing Standing Order anymore-1
13. Like information is available online (Not TR specifically)-4
