Oliver Wendell Holmes has a long verse called The
Spectre Pig, on the subject. It's pretty well-
known, although it is very un-Frost-y. (Still,
Frost tends to pop up as "Poet X" a lot in patron
questions...) Spectre Pig is on the web here and
there, including
http://www.swine-enthusiast.com/poetry04.htm
I doubt any of these are relevant, but there are
probably enough Pig-Killing poems out there to
fill a sizeable (& unsaleable) anthology, among
them:
The Pig Death, by Russell Edson
Pig Sticking Season, by Jonathan Small
The Pig Killer, by Brendan Kennelly
Castrating Pigs, by David Lee
Cutting Pigs, by Karl Elder
Grandmother Organizes Hog Killing, by Sandi
Anusavice
I Slip the Carving Knife, from The Slaughter of
Pigs, by A Poulin
Killing the Pig, by James Miley
Last Words of Pig No. 6707, by Mona VanDuyn
The Meat Works, by Robert Gray
They Slaughtered the Black and White Pig, by
Anonymous
I wish I had my favorite poetry criticism book -
Hunting the Snark - to hand. He probably has a
whole section on animal-slaughter poems. (-:
