I've tried Bookbrowser.com and Amazon.com, as well as What Western Do I
Read Next, What Mystery Do I Read Next, and Detecting Men. If anyone can
help me out on this one, I'd appreciate a reply directly to me, rather
than the list, as I do not always monitor the list regularly. My e-mail
address is [removed]@monroe.lib.in.us.
Thanks!

It's possible your patron is thinking of Mercedes Lackey's "Sacred Ground."
It's primarily a fantasy-cum-horror tale--sort of "Ghostbusters Meet the
Native Americans," but much more serious. The main character, however, *is*
a PI (female: her name is Jennifer Talldeer) who is of mixed Osage and
Cherokee ancestry, and she operates in Oklahoma solving a mystery while
dealing with some very nasty Native spirits.
