I have a patron who started reading an Oprah book (She thinks) about four months ago, but doesn't remember title or author, even from looking at a list of Oprah books. What she remembers is this:

A woman's husband, possibly a firefighter, is accused of a murder that took place maybe fifteen years earlier. They have one son. It takes place in a small town. Cover of book is beigeish.

Anyone know this?

Yah know, from the description, this sounds like a dead ringer! I will definitely pass this on to the patron, because I am sure this is it. However, I can't find it on Oprah's list of book discussion titles. Did she do it?

No, Oprah never picked Blue Diary, but she did have an earlier Hoffman book
in her club, "Here on Earth" so maybe the patron was confused about that. I
also thought Blue Diary fits what you described--except that the cover of
the book is blue, not beige.

Blue Diary is it...patron is thrilled!

BTW, our copy's cover is beige, with a key on the cover, not blue.
